University-wide Diploma Policy (Graduate School)

The Graduate School of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology teaches and researches theories and applications in agricultural science, engineering, and their interdisciplinary and integrated fields, and aims to contribute to the advancement and interdisciplinary development of science and technology by exploring their depths in order to solve global issues and realize a sustainable society. The basic philosophy of the Graduate School is to develop talented individuals who possess originality and execution power, as well as advanced specialized skills, solid research abilities, and teaching abilities.
Based on this philosophy, our graduate school awards degrees to those who have acquired the abilities set by each faculty or department and achieved the targeted learning outcomes.

University-wide Curriculum Policy (Graduate School)

In order to enable students to acquire the abilities set out in its diploma policy, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology University of Agriculture and Technology Graduate School has organized a systematic curriculum in accordance with the characteristics of each academic field of study so that students can acquire basic to specialized knowledge, and has clearly stated the content and implementation methods of the curriculum.
In order to develop engineers and researchers who have acquired the skills stipulated in the diploma policy, learning outcomes are evaluated by exams and reports for lectures, and by reports and oral exams for experiments, practical training, and exercises. Exam grades for course subjects are expressed in five grades: S, A, B, C, and D, with S, A, B, and C being passes and D being a fail. Those who pass are awarded the appropriate number of credits. In addition, for dissertations, the examination criteria and methods are clearly stated, and the dissertation examination and final examination are conducted rigorously by the Dissertation Examination Committee based on theses.

University-wide Admissions Policy (Graduate School)

Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology is located in Musashino, Tokyo, and its history began in 1874 when Ministry of Home Affairs Agricultural Training School and Sericulture Experiment Section? were established as the foundation for Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Engineering, respectively, and it was established as a university in 1949. Since its founding, the university has developed into a unique science and technology university unlike any other in the country, focusing on the two academic fields of agriculture and engineering that support agriculture and industry, the backbone of human society, while also embracing a wide range of related fields.
Our basic philosophy is to face head-on the challenges of "realizing a sustainable society" that have been brought to light by 20th century society and science and technology, and to contribute to world peace and the advancement of science and technology in harmony with society and the natural environment through education and research based on free thinking in agriculture, engineering, and their interdisciplinary fields, while also striving to foster the talent and create knowledge that will lead to problem-solving and its realization. The ideal student

In the graduate program, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology teaches and researches the theory and application of science in agriculture, engineering, and interdisciplinary fields, and cultivates professionals, researchers, and educators who have a high level of expertise, solid research ability, and teaching ability in response to the sophistication and interdisciplinarity of science and technology, and who have originality and execution skills.
In accordance with the philosophy of our university and the educational objectives of the graduate schools and graduate schools listed below, we accept a wide range of students from Japan and abroad who have a strong will to acquire advanced specialized and interdisciplinary knowledge and develop knowledge, who are interested in the development of the latest science and technology, and who are motivated to act in a practical manner.
The purpose of Graduate School of Engineering is to nurture students who have flexible ideas and solid knowledge and are capable of creative manufacturing, as well as engineers and researchers who have a high sense of ethics and an outstanding ability to discern the essence of things.
In order to contribute to the resolution of various issues in the fields of agriculture, life science, environmental science, and animal medical science and the formation of a sustainable society, the purpose of the Graduate School of Agriculture is to impart in-depth academic knowledge from a broad perspective and to develop human resources who have outstanding abilities to take on research skills in their field of specialization or occupations that require a high level of expertise.
Based on its founding philosophy of "learning from living organisms and creating new systems," Graduate School of Bio-Applications and Systems Engineering aims to create the development of new science and technology through collaboration between agriculture and industry in a new interdismal field that combines agriculture and engineering with life sciences, and to develop human resources with practical skills.
The United Graduate School of Agricultural Science aims to develop as a core doctoral program in Japan and Asia, and to pursue a creative and functional education that enables students to acquire a high level of specialized knowledge, understanding, insight, and practical skills in biological production science, applied life science, environmental resource symbiosis science, agricultural environmental engineering, and agricultural and forestry symbiosis social science from a broad perspective, and to cultivate advanced Specialist professionals and researchers who can contribute to the international community with comprehensive judgment.

[Specialist Degree Programs]
- New graduates and working adults who wish to acquire science and technology knowledge through actual research and development, and who wish to acquire knowledge of technology management and pursue a research or technology development position or a doctoral course after graduation.
- Working adults who wish to acquire skills and knowledge in strategic technology development, productization, and commercialization, and who aim to work in a company in charge of management, strategy, and planning.

Basic policy for student selection

In selecting students, we use methods (general selection and special selection) determined by each graduate school or school in accordance with our university's philosophy and the educational objectives of each school or school to accept students from both Japan and abroad who have a strong desire to acquire advanced specialized and interdisciplinary knowledge and pioneer new frontiers of knowledge, who are interested in the latest developments in science and technology, and who are motivated to take practical action.

?General selection will evaluate students' "initiative/collaboration," "interest/motivation," "ability to think/judge/expression," etc., based on a combination of academic ability tests (written and oral), transcripts from alma mater, external test scores, or work/performance reports (corresponding to application qualifications), etc. However, for those who wish to be exempt from the written test, the oral test and transcripts from alma mater will be used to evaluate them.

[Doctoral Program]
?For general selection, academic examinations will be conducted on related fields of expertise and language proficiency based on the submitted master's thesis outline and research plan, etc., to evaluate the candidate's "development of the research plan" and "motivation for research," etc.

[Specialist Degree Programs]
